CLAUDE RUNS MY BIZ / 17
THE EDITING KIT

Claude + CapCut,
The Full Breakdown

Three things Claude can make for you that drop straight into CapCut. A countdown, a fast rolling counter, and full motion graphics. None of it needs After Effects, and none of it needs you to pay a motion designer. The first two work in about a minute. The third takes ten, once.

Includes the Remotion skill install, the render command, and the prompts we actually use

What is in this kit

Editing assets used to mean either finding a stock template that looks like everyone else's, or opening a motion tool you do not want to learn. Claude sits in the middle. You describe the asset, it hands you a file, the file opens in CapCut like any other layer.

THE ASSET WHAT CLAUDE HANDS YOU TIME
Countdown timer An SRT subtitle file, 10 down to 1 Under a minute
Fast rolling counter An SRT counting 1 to 1000 Under a minute
Motion graphics A rendered MP4, built from your description 10 minutes the first time
THE PART THAT MATTERS Everything here lands as your layer, not a locked template. The countdown is real editable text, so you restyle the font, the color and the pop in to match your video. The motion graphic is built to your brief, in your brand color. That is the whole difference between this and a stock effect.
1. Countdown timers
The SRT trick. This is the one people do not know about.

Ask Claude for an SRT countdown from 10 to 1. What comes back is a subtitle file where each number sits on screen for exactly one second:

1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:01,000 10 2 00:00:01,000 --> 00:00:02,000 9

In CapCut, go to the Text tab and import it as a subtitle file. In the desktop app it sits under Local subtitle, and the exact wording shifts a little between versions. Now every number is a real text layer you can touch.

TRY THIS
Give me an SRT countdown from 10 to 1, one second per number, starting at 00:00:00. Output the raw SRT only, no explanation.
WHY THIS BEATS A STOCK COUNTDOWN It is not about speed. It is that the numbers arrive as your text, so you restyle them to match the video instead of bolting on someone else's look. If you would type it as a caption, Claude can hand it to you as an SRT.
2. The 1 to 1000 counter
Same trick, bigger. This is the viral fast counting effect.

Ask Claude for an SRT counting 1 to 1000, each number showing for a tenth of a second. Import it exactly the same way. Then select the clip in CapCut and push the speed up, try 2x to 4x, until the numbers blur into that fast rolling counter you see on revenue and milestone videos.

TRY THIS
Give me an SRT counting from 1 to 1000, 0.1 seconds per number, starting at 00:00:00. Raw SRT only.
ONE HONEST THING 1000 lines is a chunky file. If CapCut stutters on the import, ask Claude to split it into two SRTs and drop them in back to back. Takes ten seconds and it fixes it.

Worth saying plainly, because it is the mistake people make with this one: the number is not the effect. The speed is. A counter crawling from 1 to 1000 in real time is boring. The same file at 3x is the thing you actually saw and wanted.

3. Motion graphics, the Claude Code part
The one people skip because they think it is a coding thing.

You are probably thinking "I am an editor, not a coder." You do not write a single line. You describe the animation in plain English and Claude writes and renders it. What makes this work is Remotion, which builds video out of code, plus an official set of skills that teaches Claude to use it properly.

  1. Install the skill once

In your terminal. This is a one time thing, not a per video thing.

    npx skills add remotion-dev/skills

These are the official skills, maintained by the Remotion team. The install adds several, including /remotion-create, /remotion-markup, /remotion-studio and /remotion-render.

  2. Describe what you want

Open Claude Code and start the prompt with "Use the Remotion best practices skill," then say it plainly, the way you would brief a person.

    TRY THIS
Use the Remotion best practices skill. Build me a 5 second logo wipe, brand color orange, text sliding up from the bottom.
  3. Preview it in Remotion Studio

You watch it play before anything renders. Do not like the timing? Tell Claude "slow the slide down" and it edits. This is the loop, and it is the same loop you already have with a designer, minus the wait.

  4. Render it, then drop the MP4 into CapCut

npx remotion render MyComposition --output graphic.mp4

It imports like any other clip. Forget the command? Ask Claude for it again.

THE ONLY REAL FRICTION Is the first time, when you need Node and a terminal open. After that it is just describing and rendering. Brief it like a motion designer, because here Claude is one.
The skill, and where to get it

This is the download the whole guide points at. Free, open source, maintained by the Remotion team.

https://github.com/remotion-dev/skills

Install with one line:

npx skills add remotion-dev/skills

Then these are the ones you will actually reach for:

SKILL WHAT IT DOES
/remotion-best-practices Covers all the others. Use it when you are not sure which one you need.
/remotion-create Starts a new project or composition from a plain English brief.
/remotion-markup The animation itself. Timing, typography, layout, effects, fonts, audio.
/remotion-studio Opens the live preview so you can watch it before you render.
/remotion-render Renders it out to a video or a still.
/remotion-captions Captions and subtitles, if you want them baked in rather than added in CapCut.
GOOD TO KNOW You are also offered these skills automatically when you create a new Remotion project with bun create video, so if you go that route the install is already done.
Prompts worth keeping

The lower third. The one you will reuse most.

TRY THIS
Use the Remotion best practices skill. A 4 second lower third. Name on line one, title on line two, sliding in from the left with a soft ease, holding 2 seconds, then sliding out. Transparent background so I can key it over footage.

The number reveal. For a result, a milestone, a revenue figure.

TRY THIS
Use the Remotion best practices skill. A 3 second number counting from 0 up to 47,000 with an ease out so it slows as it lands, formatted with a comma and a dollar sign, big bold type centered on a dark background.

The animated bar chart. Instead of a static screenshot of your data.

TRY THIS
Use the Remotion best practices skill. A 6 second bar chart where four bars grow from zero one after another, each labeled, with the value counting up next to each bar as it grows. Brand color orange.

Fixing it without starting over. This is how the iteration actually goes.

TRY THIS
Slow the slide down, hold the text a beat longer before it exits, and make the orange a bit deeper. Re render it.
If something goes wrong
WHAT YOU SEE WHAT TO DO
CapCut will not import the SRT Make sure the file is saved as .srt, not .txt. Ask Claude for the raw file with no explanation around it.
CapCut stutters on the 1000 line file Split it. Two SRTs of 500 each, dropped in back to back.
The counter looks slow and boring You have not sped the clip up yet. Select it and push to 2x to 4x.
Claude does not know the Remotion commands Start a new session. Skills are picked up when a conversation begins, not mid chat.
The render command fails Check that Node is installed and that you are inside the project folder Claude created.
The animation is close but not right Do not restart. Describe the change in one sentence and ask it to re render.
ONE HABIT WORTH KEEPING When a graphic comes out well, save the prompt, not the file. The prompt regenerates it in any color, any length, for any client. The MP4 only works once.
