CLAUDE RUNS MY BIZ / 56
THE SETUP GUIDE
Instagram Skills:
your content team in Claude
Instagram Skills is a free, open source pack of nine Claude skills. One writes your captions, one
plans carousels, one sizes your hashtags, one strips the AI feel out of your writing and one plans
your week. This guide shows you how to install it, how to teach it your voice, and the exact
requests to send it for a full week of posts.
Checked against the repo github.com/sergebulaev/instagram-skills (MIT license), October 2026. Skills get updated often: if a step here differs from the repo, the repo is right.
The nine skills
You never call them by name. Ask for what you want and the right one switches on.
| SKILL | WHAT IT DOES FOR YOU |
| Caption Writer | Writes the caption with the hook in the first 125 characters, the part people see before "more", using a hook formula picked for your goal. |
| Carousel Planner | Plans a carousel slide by slide, up to 10: a cover that earns the swipe and a last slide that earns the save. |
| Hook Extractor | Takes a Reel or post that did well, names which of its 10 hook formulas it uses and hands you a blank version to fill. |
| Hashtag Strategist | Picks 3 to 5 hashtags sized for your account: niche, mid and broad. Not a wall of 30. |
| Humanizer | Removes the things that make a caption sound like AI wrote it, and can check a draft before you post. |
| Content Planner | Builds your week: the mix of Reels, carousels and stories, a hook for each day and when to post. |
| Repurposer | Turns a blog, a LinkedIn post, a YouTube script or an X thread into a native carousel or caption. |
| Profile Optimizer | Audits your bio, name field, link, highlights and first nine posts, then rewrites them with a scorecard. |
| Audience Insights | Reads what is doing well under a hashtag in your niche and the stats of any account, yours or a competitor's. |
Step 1: install it
Pick the way you use Claude. About two minutes, no code, no API key.
-
In the Claude desktop app
Open Settings (the gear), go to Skills, click
Add from GitHub and paste the repo name below. Then start a new conversation.
sergebulaev/instagram-skills
-
On the web at claude.ai/code
Open Skills in the sidebar, click Add from GitHub and paste the
same repo name.
-
In Claude Code (terminal, VS Code or JetBrains)
Run these two lines inside Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add sergebulaev/instagram-skills
/plugin install instagram-skills@instagram-skills
-
Test it
Ask: "Write an Instagram caption about [SOMETHING YOU DID THIS WEEK]. Hook in the first line."
If you get a caption back with a hook, a short body, one call to action and a few hashtags, it
works.
STEP 2: TEACH IT YOUR VOICE (DO NOT SKIP THIS)
The pack has a Voice and Brand Profile that every writing skill reads before it drafts. Fill it once
and you stop explaining who you are in every chat. The fast way: paste two to four of your best
captions and send the prompt on the next page. Nothing in the profile is sent anywhere, it only steers
the drafts.
USING ANOTHER AI AGENT?
The same skills work in Codex, Cursor and other agents that read skill files. One command installs
them for any of those: npx skills add sergebulaev/instagram-skills
Step 3: five requests for a full week
Send them in this order, in the same chat. Replace everything in [BRACKETS].
1. YOUR VOICECOPY
Build my Instagram Voice and Brand Profile from these captions of mine. I run [YOUR BUSINESS] for [WHO YOU SERVE]. My content pillars are [2 OR 3 TOPICS]. Never use: [WORDS YOU HATE].
[PASTE 2 TO 4 OF YOUR BEST CAPTIONS]
2. WHAT IS WORKINGCOPY
What is working in my niche right now? Look at #[YOUR NICHE HASHTAG] and at @[A COMPETITOR]. Give me the formats and hook shapes the top posts share, and only call something a pattern if it shows up in several posts.
3. THE WEEKCOPY
Plan a week of Instagram content for [YOUR BUSINESS]. This week I want to [GOAL, e.g. sell the spring offer / get more followers]. Use what you just found. Mix Reels, carousels and stories, give me a hook for each day and when to post.
4. THE POSTSCOPY
Write the captions for the whole week in my voice, with 3 to 5 sized hashtags for each. Turn the carousel day into a slide by slide plan. Then audit every caption for AI tells and the first 125 characters before you show me.
5. STEAL A HOOKCOPY
This Reel did really well: [PASTE THE LINK, THE CAPTION AND THE FIRST LINE THEY SAY]. Which hook formula is it? Give me a blank template and three versions of it for [YOUR TOPIC].
ABOUT REQUEST 2
To pull live numbers from Instagram, Audience Insights uses Apify. Create a free Apify account, copy your
token from console.apify.com (Settings, then Integrations) and give it to Claude as
APIFY_TOKEN. Apify bills by usage past its free credit, so check its pricing. No token? Paste
the posts and numbers you already see and the skill runs the same analysis on them.
What to do in the next hour
One install, one voice profile, one week of posts drafted by the end.
| MINUTES | DO THIS | WHY |
| 0 to 5 | Install the skills and run the test caption | Proves it works before you invest time |
| 5 to 20 | Send request 1 with your real captions, read the profile and fix what is off | Every draft after this sounds like you |
| 20 to 30 | Send request 2, with a token or with pasted posts | The week is built on what already works |
| 30 to 50 | Send requests 3 and 4, then cut anything you would not say out loud | A full week of drafts, edited by you |
| 50 to 60 | Post or schedule the first one in the Instagram app with your own photo or video | Something live today, not a draft folder |
IT WRITES, YOU POST
Instagram does not allow text only posts, so the skills write the words and you bring the photo or
video. By default every draft comes back for your OK and you post it yourself. The repo also has an
optional add on that schedules posts through a paid publishing service called Publora, which needs
its own account and API key. You do not need it to use any of the nine skills.
CHECK BEFORE YOU POST
Read every caption out loud once. Change any number or result you did not give Claude yourself, and
make sure the call to action points to something that really exists. The skills are built to leave a
blank instead of inventing a number, so fill those blanks with your real ones.

Every week we take a new AI tool, test it and turn it into something a business can use the same
day. The rest of the guides are in Free Resources, inside the Easy Hive community classroom.
